UMAREX 92FS - CHANGING POWERLET SEAL

Guide to changing the Powerlet seal on a Umarex 92fs co2 pistol

Unlike CO2 rifles ( QB/ XS ) Co2 pistols should not be left "gassed" for any length of time. The seal that the powerlet is pressed against when loaded in the handle gets compressed and over time it becomes dis formed and will not re-shape, result being you load a new capsule and all the gas escapes as the powerlet is pierced.

First job ensure gun is unloaded and has no powerlet in it !! remove the handle cover that allows you to put powerlet in the handle.

need to remove the slide, undo screw at position A

Once this is removed you can remove the slide, the catch you open to put the magazine in, release it so the slide opens but hold the slide and allow it to slide forward from the gun , note the position of the bar , spring and washer.

next job is to remove the whole side of the gun , undo the indicated screws and remove them.

the safety lever comes off , put to one side, the whole side then comes off, you need to prise it up slowly , ideally use your fingers to get it started so as not to scratch the case with a tool , slowly lift it off.
this is the bit we are after :-

you need to Prise this out it will come away as 2 parts where you see the green line in the picture these are 2 separate parts the square part has a spring and a small brass tube, remember how these go together for re-fitting, one you have removed the block you can undo the ring that holds the seal , a 1/2 inch chisel fits perfectly

once undone pick the old seal out and replace with a new one

putting everything back is the reverse of removal, things will pop out and move so be careful and try to remember how everything goes - this picture below will help

the job is fiddly so take it slowly, don't press the safety bit down because a tiny ball bearing and spring pop out, its very fiddly to put them back, just go slow and don't force anything.

KRAL DEVIL .177 ABS STOCK

Thought I would try one of these Turkish Springer's, a friend is a great advocate of all Turkish air guns and recommended the Kral Devil to me. The gun had had a lube and mild de-bur prior to purchase - this is generally recommended on these guns and the Hatsan range they tend to be dry out of the box.

Ultimately this gun will become my "open sight" rifle but to start with I have fitted a scope to test its accuracy.
took about 10 shots to zero and grouped well for a brand new gun about 3/4 of an inch, considering it was windy and i was kneeling I am impressed.

Went for the .177 version with Black ABS stock, it has tru-glo fibre optic open sights the forblade is red with the rear green, the chunky muzzle acts as a good handle when breaking the barrel. Trigger is 2 stage with a safety within the trigger guard. 

To sum up, the Kral Devil is a lightweight, accurate and easy to use springer sporter at a good price.

HATSAN AT44-10 .22

My Son has purchased an AT44-10 , it was highly recommended by a Friend, went for the .22 option as he is using it mainly for hunting also the choice of a ABS stock meant it would be robust and would not mark like a wooden stock, also decided on the side lever loading style. LOGUN S16 .22

Well finally did it - bought a PCP rifle, Had tried this gun at the club and really liked the look of it, had a shoot and it felt good - not soul-less how some PCPs feel, shot count is high, it well built and has has a new set of the correct quality seals, zerod it and got a 1 hole group with AA Field 5.52s. Will add a Bi-pod soon but next thing i need is a Dive bottle to fill her. Overall very pleased. Have added some data below photos of my gun .

TX200hc added new scope

Saw this scope on EBAY for £29.99 , its a copy of the leupold MK4 scope, side parallax, easy adjust turrets, mildot reticule illuminate (red or green) 3.5 -10 mag , 40mm with a 30mm tube. Quality is very good optics are clear and the parallax adjustment is good. I have put this on the TX200hc and so far very easy to zero and has held its zero since. Overall for £30 quid this is good value.

HW98 - added new scope

Added a new scope to the 98, wanted paralex adjustable but not to high a magnification. Went for the Nikko Stirling Game king 4-16 x 50 has very nice optics , a fine mildot reticle and the paralex is smooth and fast, turrets are easy to zero, I got the flip up covers which are less fiddly than the hook over type. Overall very pleased with it.

TS-45 new scope and zerod

Originally had a 4x32 mil-dot scope on the gun, have put a 3-9x40 leapers scope on and zerod, the gun will be competing in a competition for Chinese guns only in the recoiling optics section, its an HFT and target challenge so the increased mag on the scope will help.

Umarex B2 (Renovation / strip / rebuild)

UMAREX CHINA 62 (B2)

We were given a B2 rifle by a Farmer who shoots at our Club, It was in a hell of a state , red with rust and wet with oil where it had been smothered to stop the rot - bit late for that!!.The stock however was in very good condition and not covered in the thick brown gunk that the Chinese call varnish. On closer examination it had the word UMAREX on the breech. Umarex is a German company, the gun looked identical to the Westlake B2 models, however on stripping it the only difference was that it had a metal screw on cap at the rear of the cylinder instead of the flimsy plastic push on ones the Westlakes have, everything else looked the same. Below are pictures of the stripped gun.

The piston was in good condition , no rust, but the leather seal had disintegrated - luckily I had a replacement.

Rust was quite bad but it had not pitted the metal

the insides were in good condition, once cleaned and de-greased they were quite serviceable.

Gun is not worth re-bluing so we decided to prime and paint with tough satin black paint

Assembly of these is quite straight forward, the new piston seal was a tight and there was a reasonable pre-load on the spring.

Had to change the 2 side screws that hold the stock on and other than the piston seal everything else went back on with the correct lube.

Pleased with the finish and the first 20 or so pellets were of good power and the trigger is very sweet, not at all heavy.

I cannot find out much about this model other than on the clone list for B2 rifles there is a reference to the Umarex China 62, what i do not know is, is this a B2 made in china stamped Umarex for Umarex or is it made by Umarex and copied by the Chinese?
